Certified CMMC Assessor

A Certified CMMC Assessor, or CCA, is qualified to participate in CMMC assessments at a deeper level and evaluate an organization’s implementation of required cybersecurity practices. CCAs bring knowledge of the CMMC model, NIST SP 800-171 requirements, assessment objectives, evidence review, interviews, and testing activities.

In the CMMC ecosystem, CCAs help determine whether an organization has properly implemented the required safeguards to protect sensitive government information. Their work requires technical understanding, sound professional judgment, objectivity, and the ability to evaluate evidence in a consistent and defensible manner.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance plays an important role in supporting the integrity and consistency of CMMC-related work. In the CMMC space, QA activities help ensure that assessment documentation, evidence review, findings, and internal processes are performed in accordance with applicable requirements and organizational procedures.

A strong QA function supports objectivity, consistency, and defensibility. It helps confirm that assessment activities are properly documented, that conclusions are supported by evidence, and that the organization maintains the professional standards expected within the CMMC ecosystem.

Lead Certified CMMC Assessor

A Lead Certified CMMC Assessor, or Lead CCA, is a senior assessment role responsible for helping guide and oversee CMMC assessment activities. Lead CCAs bring additional experience in cybersecurity, assessment execution, team coordination, and professional judgment.

This role is important because CMMC assessments require more than technical knowledge alone. They also require structure, consistency, documentation discipline, and the ability to manage assessment activities in a way that supports fairness, accuracy, and confidence in the assessment outcome.

Certified CMMC Professional

A Certified CMMC Professional, or CCP, demonstrates foundational knowledge of the CMMC model, assessment process, and supporting cybersecurity requirements. CCPs understand the role CMMC plays in protecting Federal Contract Information and Controlled Unclassified Information across the Defense Industrial Base.

This credential reflects a strong baseline understanding of CMMC practices, terminology, scoping concepts, and assessment expectations. CCPs may support assessment-related activities within the boundaries of their role and under appropriate supervision, helping organizations better understand the CMMC process and the cybersecurity practices that support compliance.
